Digital Wedding Photography

Over time our memories fade but when photographic images of a wedding day are captured, everything comes flooding back; the vast majority of couples arrange for a professional digital wedding photographer to be there for the most important part of the day. Couples often have a DVD made as well so that even more of the occasion is captured.

The hardest thing if you are a friend or relation is trying to take photographs of the wedding day that they will be pleased with. Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your digital camera.

Firstly, if you want to take a picture of the couple or any other guest, make sure that the background is good and the shot will not be too crowded. Often when there is a good background there are just too many people in the shot, so if this is the situation, just try and capture a nice head and shoulders shot of the couple.

Try to get guests that have spectacles on to either remove them or hold their head at an angle so that there isn't a reflection obscuring their eyes. Although some interesting effects can be achieved when you take a picture of a subject with the light behind them this may not be the right occasion to experiment so make sure the light is behind you when you take your shot.

A zoom lens will often enable you to take pictures that would not otherwise be possible as people are not so conscious of their photo being taken. You should be alert at all times when shooting digital wedding photography since you can seldom ask people to keep posing for you and the day is also about spontaneity.

The last thing you want to happen is for your digital camera to have half charged batteries and a memory card that is already half full as it will restrict how many shots you can take. For any camera with 6 mega pixels or above, you will require at least one gigabyte, preferably two gigabytes of storage space on your card if you intend to use high resolution.

The higher the resolution you set the better the images will be and the larger they can be printed out. This is achieved by saving the images to your computer where you can print them out at your leisure on special photographic paper.

The success you have with your shots and your digital wedding photography will depend on two things, your feelings for the couple and the love of photography itself.
